DIGESTIVE HEALTH

Digestion is key to optimal health. Common digestive concerns include bloating, diarrhea, constipation, inflammatory bowel disease, acid reflux, and irritable bowel syndrome.

The naturopathic approach to treating these conditions often involves a combination of dietary modifications, herbal and/or nutraceutical supplementation and lifestyle strategies. If indicated, lab testing (ie. food sensitivity testing, stool testing, etc) is recommended to help determine the appropriate diagnosis and treatment approach.

HORMONAL HEALTH

The hormones in our body are part of an intricate symphony and play various roles within the body. When one hormone is out of balance, it affects the balance of many other hormones downstream. It is no wonder that hormonal health is quite complex.

Common hormonal concerns include (but is not limited to) thyroid dysfunction, irregular or heavy periods, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, menopause, low libido, adrenal fatigue, and weight gain.

Naturopathic treatment can be used in conjunction with other conventional or complementary therapies to restore hormonal homeostasis.

PRECONCEPTION & PERINATAL CARE

Naturopathic perinatal care is ideal for all women who wish to improve health for both mother and baby during pregnancy, labour, and postpartum.

Growing evidence shows that preconception care can help improve sperm and egg quality, as well as ensure that the body is nourished and fully equipped to improve fertility and maintain pregnancy.

Naturopathic medicine offers treatments which are safe and effective for both common and uncommon perinatal health concerns. Each woman’s pregnancy is a unique and individual experience and naturopathic care can support a woman’s changing needs throughout the journey of pregnancy and beyond.

Naturopathic medicine is an excellent add-on to routine obstetrical or midwife care.

CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE & DIABETES

Under the umbrella of chronic disease, cardiovascular disease and diabetes are one of the most prevalent.

With the help of routine lab work and physical examination, naturopathic treatment will include dietary modification, lifestyle changes, stress management, nutritional/herbal supplementation, and weight management where required.

Naturopathic medicine has so much to offer for the management of chronic disease. Also, it is important to keep in mind that one does not have to wait for chronic disease to develop in order to do something about it. One of the strengths of naturopathic medicine is preventative health where all the tools are provided to ensure patients optimize their health to halt chronic disease in its tracks.

MENTAL HEALTH

Whether it's depression, anxiety, or any other mental health concern, naturopathic medicine aims to treat the whole person, mind and body.

When it comes to mental health, there is a lot in the naturopathic tool bag. Treatment modalities often include cognitive behavioural therapy, nutritional counseling, supplementation, acupuncture, and exercise.

Mental health conditions are more common than we think so it is important to break down the stigma and seek the help that we need.
